From El Salvador comes “El Cadaver Exquisito (The Exquisite Corpse),” written and directed by Victor Ruano, an Emmy-winning graphic designer. Ruano edited 400 hours of footage into 90 minutes to create this experimental film, a raw documentary influenced by distinctive Latin American surrealism. In a series of seemingly disjointed vignettes, including an extensive look into the lives of local transgender sex workers, “El Cadaver Exquisito” juxtaposes unscripted everyday rituals with staged dream sequences to provide social commentary on violence in El Salvador, especially against women.
Errata: the editor of the movie was Elric Kane.
After 3 months in Quelepa, the land of Carlos Ulloa, The Stone Jaguar (in San Miguel, El Salvador). I am back in Los Angeles, Ca. Our movie production was challenging, but very productive. This trip was a truly meaningful experience for me. I went down looking for answers, and I got back in my studio with hundreds of strong images and a gorgeous story to tell. I am so proud to announce that we are currently working on the post production of our new film.
I am in Quelepa, San Miguel, El Salvador, shooting my next movie.
This will be our next feature film: Engrudo. La Transfiguración de Carlos Ulloa de Quelepa. Which is currently in development.
We are in El Salvador, (June 5th to June 20th) researching for what is going to be our next movie.
