Imagine me as a proud Emmy Award winner, seated in my studio, surrounded by the tools of my craft and the visual echoes of my career. I’m seated at my well-worn work desk. The golden trophy gleams, prominently displayed in the foreground. I grasp the trophy with my left hand, held confidently across my chest. Its iconic winged figure and lattice globe catch ambient light and cast elegant reflections. The polished surface of the trophy radiates craftsmanship. A black ribbon wraps the base of the Emmy, and prominently displayed near the camera, is clearly engraved with:

“2024-2025 SPORTS EMMY® AWARDS
OUTSTANDING GRAPHIC DESIGN – EVENT / SHOW
GAMES OF THE XXXIII OLYMPIAD
THE NETWORKS OF NBC
VICTOR RUANO, GRAPHIC DESIGNER”

There’s natural light coming in from a nearby window, catching on the gold of the trophy and adding a warm glow to the space. The Emmy sits on my blue cutting mat—the same one I’ve used for years. It’s scratched up, a little stained in spots, but it’s where so many ideas started.

I’m wearing a casual burnt orange t-shirt that contrasts warmly against the cooler tones of the workspace. My expression is calm, slightly amused, but undeniably fulfilled—the look of someone who has journeyed far, honed his vision, and now holds the golden proof in hand. My short, styled, dark hair and 5 o’clock shadow beard, frame a masculine Latin-mestizo face, lit with the soft glow of accomplishment.

The background reveals a curated studio space, filled with tools of the trade and personal history. Posters of classic Latin American and European cinema decorate the wall, revealing my influences and cinematic taste. The studio is a blend of analog and digital worlds. Behind me, a dual-monitor setup glows—one screen showing a vibrant reel of past work, the other showcasing colorful, digital artwork in progress. The top of a painter’s easel is visible behind the computer monitors, also book shelves, and framed memorabilia hinting at years of artistic evolution.

This isn’t a flashy celebration—it’s a quiet one, grounded in the space where it all happens. A familiar desk, a few signs of creative chaos, with something I never imagined I’d be holding. And I’m sitting with it for a bit, as a reminder that the work matters.
