This project is a photo documentation of El Valle de México (The Valley of Mexico). It was made for a TV. show called La Cocina Indígena.
In 2009 I was invited to México to work on a TV. show called ” La Cocina Indígena” hosted by chef Miriam Ceballos from Texcoco. My friend and collaborator in previous projects Ernesto “Cheche” Hernández was the director and producer of that show and my responsibility was to document photographically our journey through El Valle de México (The Valley of Mexico).
La Cocina Indigena” (Indigenous Cuisine) is a Univision-funded project of Ernesto Hernández. It is a TV series of 30-minute shows and each program is filmed in a different city of Mesoamerica. The first two cities chosen were Texcoco and Tehotihuacan.
Besides photography, I (Victor Ruano) participated in this project in the areas of directorial advising, camera work, editing and motion graphics content creation.
We arrived first at El Paso, TX, then we drove to Ciudad Juarez and then flew to Mexico City. We were based at Texcoco, 30 minutes from the mexican capital and also Tehotihuacan. This is the list of the main places we visited during the trip: Teotihuacan, Texcoco, Mexico City (D.F.), San Salvador Atenco, La Trinidad de Axopilco, El Xolache, Tezcutzingo, Baños de Nezahualcoyotl, Sin Nombre, La Purificación, Tequexquinahuac, San Miguel Tocuila, Laguna de Texcoco…
